HTC Hero: First Thoughts
On Sunday October 11, I went to Sprint and got an HTC Hero. Probably the best purchase I've ever made. So far I've had no problems with it. I don't like you have to take the back off to get to the microSD card, but you don't really need to take it out. I was surprised on how similar the apps are to the iPhone's. A lot are actually the same. it did not come with Android 1.6 Donut, but that should be coming out soon. The OS was so simple, right when the Sprint guy gave it to me, I knew where everything on it was. In my opinion, it is better than an iPhone because it has more capability than the iPhone. There's a lot the iPhone could do, but it doesn't do. Overall, the Hero is very slim, it feels sturdy in your hand, like it's not going to break. Web Browsing a little slow, but not too bad that makes you not want the phone. It maybe takes 1 second longer than the iPhone. This is just a first thoughts, so that's why it is so short. Palm Pre Review

I recently was able to go to my local Sprint store and try out the Palm Pre. The Pre, in my opinion, is the best phone out on the market right now. (Until the HTC Hero comes out on Sprint also). But the Pre has so many wonderful features. First of all, the touchscreen is just as sensitive as the iPhone. I own an ipod touch myself, and it was actually even better than the iPhone. When you hold the Pre, it feels sturdy, and very comfortable in the hand. The Pre has Palm's new OS called webOS. This is possibly the best OS for a phone I have ever experienced. It may not have as many apps as the iPhone (Not yet anyway), but all the apps are very fun and entertaining. The phone quality is better than people say it is. I tested it out and the quality wasn't perfect, but I'd give it a 9 out of 10. I would buy the phone myself, but there's 2 things that held me back.
1. Most importantly, The Keyboard. The keyboard is so small, and very hard to text on. Though, I may have big hands, but I'm comfortable texting on a Palm Centro, which has about the same size keys. It's just not comfortable. You can get an on screen keyboard, just like the iPhone has.
2. No micro SD card slot. This is a big part to the Pre. I like to add music all the time, but you can't really do that because the Pre really only has enough internal memory for every app and maybe 25 songs. For the next model I'd highly suggest Palm adds this feature to the Pre.
After all this, I did miss a couple of things. The Pre comes with a 3.2 megapixel camera. Quality is decent, and Youtube ready, but nothing special. I like the fact that you can be running multiple apps at once, unlike the iPhone. You could be downloading something off the internet on one Card, and updating your twitter on another. Very pleasing. Overall, I think this is the phone to get right now, It's a 9 out of 10, with some missing of features of No microSD slot and the keyboard. But the keyboard you can download an on screen one, so don't worry.
